Introduction #
Phone Validation API is available in the Apollo platform via Waterfall Enrichment to identify which numbers are active and ready to dial.
This feature is available on paid Apollo accounts and can be accessed via Apollo credits or a Trestle API Key.

Enable Verification #
To begin, log into your Apollo account and select “People.”
To access the settings, at least one person or contact needs to be visible on this page. You can filter your list of people or view specific lists that you have uploaded to the platform. We will be looking at the Phone Number column specifically.
Hover over the waterfall settings button. Then, click on the gear icon.

Toggle on “Enable Waterfall for your team.”

Scroll down to “Validation source” and select “Add.” Select “Trestle” from Apollo-integrated providers. This will allow you to query Phone Validation API using Apollo credits. If you would prefer to query using your Trestle API key and account balance, that works too.
To get an API key, sign up for a Trestle account.

Enter your API key and click “Save.” It will now show that you are connected to Trestle. When your waterfall runs to find phone numbers, they will automatically be verified.

You can also choose when to stop your phone number search based on Trestle data.

To see the results, hover over the phone icon.
NOTE: While Phone Validation typically returns a Phone Activity Score, this score is not exposed to the user on Apollo. However, the score is used on the backend to determine if a number is valid or not.
Any phone numbers that return the following will be considered valid:
- Is_valid = true
- Activity Score is greater than 30

You can also click “View report” after the waterfall runs if you want to see the data returned from each source.

If you would like to see a history of waterfall queries run, you can also navigate to Admin Settings > All Settings > System Activity > Data Requests > Waterfall.
