If your Developer Portal account did not pass automated business verification, you can complete the process manually by emailing documentation to our support team at support@trestleiq.com. This article covers which documents we accept, which we cannot, and what to expect after you submit.
Why Trestle Verifies Businesses #
Trestle provides access to sensitive identity data such as phone numbers, names, addresses, and email addresses tied to real people. Business verification confirms that an account belongs to a registered business with a legitimate use case before that account can query identity data. This is a standard practice for data providers operating under U.S. consumer data regulations, and it protects the individuals whose records appear in our datasets.
What To Do After a Failed Verification Attempt #
You have two attempts to complete automated business verification in the Developer Portal. If both attempts fail, email support@trestleiq.com with one of the documents listed below.
Automated verification relies on U.S. EIN records. If your business is registered outside the United States, you may not pass the automated check regardless of how your information is entered. Skip to the international section below and submit documentation directly.
Documents We Accept #
Submit at least one document to support@trestleiq.com from the list below. Documents must be legible and must clearly display your legal business name.
U.S.-Registered Businesses #
- Certificate of Good Standing or Active Business License. A state or locally issued certificate showing the business is legally registered and active.
- Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization. The original formation documents stamped and approved by your local Secretary of State.
- Recent business bank statement. Issued within the last three months. You may redact account numbers, balances, and transaction details.
- IRS SS-4 letter or Form 147C. Accepted, though not required.
Businesses Registered Outside the U.S. #
- Government-issued Certificate of Incorporation
- Official tax certificate displaying the local business or tax identification number
- Business bank statement issued within the last three months
Documents must be in English. The document must clearly display the business’s legal name and, where available, its registered address and business registration or tax number.
What To Include in Your Email #
Along with one of the documents above, include:
- Legal business name
- Country of registration
- Business registration or tax number
- Email address associated with your Trestle account
Providing all four points of verification in your email prevents a follow-up request and shortens the review.
Documents and Links We Cannot Accept #
The following documents/links are not sufficient for business verification:
- Company websites, domain registrations, LinkedIn pages, or other social media profiles.
- W-9 forms, unofficial EIN printouts, or screenshots from third-party formation services such as LegalZoom.
- Utility or phone bills, driver’s licenses, or passports.
These sources either cannot be traced back to a government registry, or identify an individual rather than a registered business.
What Happens After You Submit Your Documents? #
Our support team will review your documentation and contact you if anything else is needed. Once your business is verified, we update the verification status on your account.
