Yes, Trestle normalizes each phone number before running a query. Here are a few examples of acceptable input formats:
- 111-222-3333
- (111)222-3333
- +1 111 222 3333
- 1 (111) 222 3333
- +1(111)222-3333
- 1 (111) 222 – 3333 ext 44
When a customer uploads a file or runs a query, the initial format doesn’t matter as long as it is a valid 10-digit phone number, plus or minus the country code.
If an invalid number is queried, our APIs will return a response of “is_valid”: false.
When a valid phone number is queried and assigned to a carrier, the API response will include “is_valid”: true and “phone_number”: +11112223333 in a normalized format.
Appropriate country codes will be added for international numbers, and the number will still be provided in a normalized format. For example, 447711022161 normalizes as +447711022161.
