Trestle’s Phone-to-Name Confidence Score is a numeric value ranging from 50 to 90 that indicates how confident Trestle is that the returned name is correctly associated with the queried phone number. A higher score indicates stronger confidence in the phone-to-name association.
Why introduce a score if Trestle’s name results are already accurate? #
Our name results are already high quality. The Phone-to-Name Confidence Score adds transparency and control on top of that accuracy.
Different businesses have different accuracy needs. The confidence score helps you understand the strength of each phone-to-name association so you can set thresholds based on your specific use case. Instead of treating every name returned as equal, you can make faster, more explainable decisions.
What data powers this score? #
The score is calculated using a weighted aggregation of data-quality signals from Trestle’s trusted data vendors. These signals reflect the strength, consistency, and reliability of name-to-phone associations observed across sources.
What are the possible values the score can have? #
The score can have a value between 50 to 90.
How should I interpret the score? #
| Score | Implication |
| >=70 | High confidence that the phone belongs to the name returned |
| 60 | Medium confidence that the phone belongs to the name returned |
| 50 | Not enough signals to confirm if the phone belongs to the name returned |
Why are there no scores below 50? #
Trestle does not return names when confidence falls below 50. If confidence is too low, no name is surfaced. This prevents misleading or low-quality results from reaching your workflows.
Is the confidence score a probability? #
No. The Phone-to-Name Confidence Score is not an exact probability. It represents the relative strength of evidence supporting the phone-to-name association. Higher scores indicate stronger, more consistent signals, while lower scores indicate weaker or limited evidence.
Although the score reflects likelihood in a directional sense (higher = more likely), it should not be interpreted as a precise probability of a correct name match.
