How to Install Trestle’s Phone Validation App #
Step 1: Sign up for a Trestle Developer Account. #
If you already have a Trestle Developer Portal account, you can skip to Step 2.
This step will provide you with a Trestle API Key, which is needed for the app function. To sign up for a Trestle Developer Portal account, please visit the sign up page. This will require your business email address and phone number.
After you complete the email verification step, you will receive your API key and access to Phone Validation API.
Step 2: Connect your Trestle account to HubSpot and install the app. #
Use the installation link to connect your Trestle account to HubSpot.
First, select which account you’d like to use.

Next, accept the access terms that Trestle requires for your HubSpot account by checking the box and clicking “Connect app.” This step can take a couple tries as it doesn’t always seem to authenticate on the first go. When completed, it will say “Connection Successful.”
Step 3: Add App Card to Contact Side-bar. #
Click the “Shop” icon and navigate to “Connected Apps.”

Select “Trestle Phone Validation” from the list.

Navigate to “Settings,” then “Manage Location.”

Click the checkbox to ensure that the app card will display on a contact page.

Step 4: Add your API Key. #
Navigate to any Contact page, and you will see “Trestle Phone Validation” as one of the apps in the right-hand sidebar towards the bottom. You can rearrange the order of these sidebar app cards.

Click on “Manage Extension” in the right sidebar of HubSpot Contacts.

To connect your Trestle account on HubSpot, you need to add your API key from the Developer Portal.
Click copy and paste the key into the “Your Trestle API Key” field in HubSpot.
If you would prefer to manually validate contacts, use workflows or lists and do not want contacts to be validated automatically, uncheck the “Auto validate” box.
Select the properties that you want to validate for each contact and click “Save.” You can then close this window. You can find these properties in the Properties tab of your settings in the “Trestle Phone Validation” group.

Once your account has been connected, you are all set. New contacts added to HubSpot will be automatically validated with this configuration.

Validating Contacts Manually #
To manually validate a contact in HubSpot, select any Contact. Scroll down to the app in the right side panel and click the “Actions” button.
Click “Update Contact” and the contact will be validated with fresh information.

Additional Resources #
Use HubSpot Lists to Validate Contacts #
This option allows you to use filtering criteria in HubSpot lists to create a set of contacts that you want to validate. Once the list is created, it will be available in the Trestle Developer Portal for processing. Once the list is complete, a CSV export can be downloaded from Trestle and imported back into HubSpot. Instructions on using the Lists feature can be found here.
Use Workflow Triggers to Selectively Validate Contacts #
This option allows you to add the Phone Validation App in a HubSpot workflow and use specific conditions to trigger the validation. This can be used to selectively validate new contacts added to HubSpot or selectively validate historical contacts in HubSpot before the app installation. More details on setting up Phone Validation within workflows can be found here.
