Phone validation is one of the most important aspects of working with phone numbers that a business can do. Verifying phone numbers will increase connecting rates when doing outbound dialing campaigns. It will also allow you to connect with customers more successfully when you know you have their mobile phone (e.g., SMS notifications before your team shows up for service.)
By validating phone numbers within HighLevel, you will ensure your CRM is clean and you have the best phone numbers available to connect with your leads and customers.
Trestle’s Phone Validation API will provide:
- Phone Activity Score (connected vs. disconnected)
- Carrier
- Line type data (mobile vs. landline vs. VoIP etc.)
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to validate phone numbers using Trestle’s Phone Validation API from within HighLevel.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following: #
An active HighLevel account. (Click here to sign up.)
Step 1: Install App #
Navigate to the App Marketplace.
Search “Phone Validation.” Select “Phone Validation w/ Connected & Disconnected Flag by Trestle.”
Click “Install.”
Select any sub-accounts you wish to include and select “Continue.” Select “Allow and Install.”
You will now see Phone Validation listed under the Installed Apps tab. At this point, the app is installed for your agency, but it will not yet be active on your sub-account.
To activate the app on a sub-account, select the sub-account where you want to set up the app. Go to the App Marketplace.
Select “Installed Apps.” You will know you are in the right place because it will say “Agency View” next to the Marketplace App’s title.
Select “Phone Validation.”
Step 2: Configure the app in a workflow. #
Select “Automation” from the menu.
Select “Start from Scratch.”
Choose a trigger. In this case, we will use “Contact Created,” but this can be customized as needed to suit your needs.
As a second step, add “Phone Validation API” to the workflow. It will be available in the Actions options as you have already installed the app in a previous step.
As a third step, select the “Phone” property from the Contact dropdown to populate the Phone field.
This tells the app to use the “Contact phone number” as an input for the phone number required by the app.
Next, add a step to the workflow to “Update Contact Field.” This step allows you to map the output from Phone Validation to specific contact properties.
The next step is to map the app response fields to the custom contact fields that were created when you installed the app. On the left column, you have contact fields. On the right column, you have app response data.
You can select the “Custom Variable Picker” to help identify which fields are the app responses.
They will be found under a menu item titled “Phone Validation.”
There are four possible fields that the app can populate:
- Valid: Is this a phone number?
- Activity Score: Is this phone number active?
- Carrier: Who is the phone carrier?
- Line Type: Is this phone a landline, mobile, fixed VoIP, non-fixed VoIP, etc.?
For each field you would like to see, simply “Add field” and map it to the correct response. Don’t forget to click “SAVE ACTION” when you’re finished.
Step 3: View Data #
From your home page, head to your Contacts page.
Select any of your contacts that were added after the workflow was turned on.
In the “Additional Info” section, you will see the fields added from the Phone Validation app. They will be populated with the data you mapped in the setup steps.
You can also see this data by adding a column to your contact page:
Step 4: Billing and Payments #
From the “Agency” view, select Settings > Billing > Wallet Transactions > Detailed Transactions.
Here, you will see each query/validation. Each validation costs $0.015 and draws off of your HighLevel Wallet balance.
We also provide a video walkthrough here.
