Please note: This guide assumes Real Contact Phone Grading has already been installed and configured with your Trestle API key. If you have not yet installed the app, please review our installation guide.
This guide is designed to help you start using HubSpot workflow triggers to selectively grade contacts based on your business needs.
Access to workflows does require a HubSpot Professional or Enterprise plan. If you are unfamiliar with workflows, this HubSpot guide should help get you started.
In this guide, we cover:
- Adding Real Contact Phone Grading to your workflow
- Phone Grading App Properties
- Using Phone Grading Properties to Branch contacts
Adding Real Contact Phone Grading to Your Workflow #
Access your Workflow page and open an existing workflow OR create a new workflow. You will find Real Contact Phone Grading listed in the “Choose an action panel.” Select the app, and you are good to go for that step in your workflow.
Phone Grading App Properties #

These properties can be found by selecting Settings > Data Management – Properties > Select “Trestle” from Groups.

- Phone Line Type: Will return the line type of the phone number (e.g., mobile, landline, non-fixed VoIP, fixed VoIP, etc.)
- Phone Name Match: Yes/No response
- Phone Contact Grade: Returns A, B, C, D, or F
- Valid Email: Yes/No response
- Email Name Match: Yes/No response

Each of these properties can be used in a similar fashion to all other HubSpot properties. They can be used for creating lists, reports, branching in workflows, etc.
Using Phone Grading Properties to Branch Contacts #
Please note: If you installed the app prior to March 14th, 2025, you may be limited on which properties are best for branching contacts. Please contact us if you have questions.
Branching is a powerful tool used to route contacts to certain workflows and actions based on the properties you specify. You can branch contacts based on the properties listed in the previous section.
Here are a couple of examples of rules you could use: #
One property or action output: #
- Example 1: Send contact to Branch 1 if the Phone Contact Grade is equal to A, B, or C.
- Example 2: Send contact to Branch 1 if the Phone Activity Score is greater than 70.
- Example 3: Send contact to Branch 1 if the phone line type equals “mobile.”
AND/OR logic: #
- Example 1: Send contacts to Branch 1 IF Phone Line Type is equal to “mobile” AND the Phone Activity Score is greater than 70.
- Example 2: Send contacts to Branch 1 IF the Phone Contact Grade is equal to A OR the Email Contact Grade is equal to A.
