Meet the Intern: Deepak Ganesan

At Trestle, we are thrilled to welcome two interns this summer! We know they will add great value to the company while they are here, and we are looking forward to working with them. For our first “Meet the Intern,” we want to introduce Deepak Ganesan!

Tell us a little bit about yourself, background, and role. How did you land here?

I’m currently a Master’s of Computer Science student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Before starting my master’s program, I was working as a senior software engineer in Myntra, India. At Trestle, I will primarily be working as Backend Engineer, developing new components and helping in maturing existing systems.

I was fortunate to connect with Kushal Shah, Co-founder and CEO of Trestle, and reached out to him after applying for the position online. He has been extremely supportive from the beginning making the interview process and onboarding really smooth. I have had a great first few weeks here getting to work with the team in Bellevue, Washington, and I’m looking forward to making an impact and learning as much as possible during my time here.

What excites you most about Trestle?

During my initial discussions with both of the co-founders, Kushal and Jordan, I was really excited to hear the company’s clear vision to be the platform for developing and reinforcing customer relationships by using phone data as a key field for identification. It’s a compelling challenge that pushes the boundaries of data analysis and customer relationship management. Working in an early stage startup poses immense growth opportunities, and I’m hoping to dive deep into both the business and engineering side of things to make the most out of my time here.

The core values of Trestle also align with my own professional ethos. I appreciate that Trestle places customers first, valuing responsiveness and accessibility. The company’s culture encourages speed and thoughtful risk-taking, which I believe is essential for innovation. I am also drawn to the company’s willingness to dive deep into any task, fostering a growth mindset and promoting a team-oriented work environment. These values indicate a healthy, supportive, and challenging environment where I can learn, grow, and contribute significantly.

What will you be working on during your internship?

Some of the projects I will be working on include:

  1. Improving the observability and monitoring aspects of the APIs by logging and pulling relevant data and creating dashboards for them.
  2. Developing a centralized service that will allow storage and retrieval of customizable configurations needed for the APIs.
  3. POC for an in-house developer portal.
  4. Migration of Lambdas to EKS based architecture.

What are your plans after finishing the internship?

I have one more semester left to complete my master’s program, so my immediate plan is to move back to Urbana, Illinois. My long-term plan is to leverage the skills and experiences I’ve gained to further my career in software engineering. Ideally, I would love to transition into a full-time role at Trestle or another innovative tech company where I can continue to grow professionally. I am particularly interested in working on projects that use technology to solve complex problems and create meaningful impact.
