Meet the Intern: Viraaj Singh

Tell us a little bit about yourself, background, and role. How did you land here?

My name is Viraaj, and I am currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science at the University of Maryland – College Park. Prior to joining Trestle, I had experience working in the startup sphere and served as a research lead in my university’s Digital Engagement Lab.

I discovered Trestle through a mutual connection, and after a conversation with Jordan Reynolds, Co-founder and CRO, I realized my skills and passions would be a great fit for the team. Given my interest in both entrepreneurship and software development, I saw this internship as an opportunity to explore both worlds. With the team’s smaller size, I could collaborate with everyone and make a meaningful impact. Additionally, Jordan indicated that a major focus of the internship would be building automations for the sales team, which allows me to combine my business and software interests in a hands-on fashion.

What excites you most about Trestle?

What excites me most about Trestle is the ability to interact with the entire team on a daily basis. I am able to directly interact with members of the engineering, marketing, and sales teams. Within the tech world, our work is often siloed off from the rest of the company. Trestle’s flexible and collaborative environment allows me to understand the ‘why’ of what I am building. It also provides me with real-time feedback, allowing me to build and iterate on solutions much quicker.

What will you be working on during your internship?

My main focuses for the internship revolve around improving/expanding our HubSpot app, as well as building automations and demos for the sales team. For the HubSpot app, I have been tasked with migrating the app from a Google Scripts backend to an AWS environment. The team has placed a strong emphasis on both migrating and expanding the HubSpot app’s functionality in preparation for the HubSpot conference later this year.

With the rise of AI, many of the demonstrations and automations I am building integrate some form of AI. For instance, building an AI Voice agent that has Trestle integration for call verification!

What are your plans after finishing the internship?

After my internship, I will be returning to Maryland to finish up the rest of my bachelor’s degree. Once I graduate, I would love to return back to Trestle or create my own startup. I believe that the technical skills coupled with the business experience I gain at Trestle will prepare me for that next step.
