Meet the Team: Lainey Stevens

Tell us a little bit about yourself, background, and role. How did you land here?

I’m Lainey, and I am the Marketing Communications Specialist at Trestle. I was born and raised in Mississippi and went to college at the University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss. After graduating college in 2020, my two close friends and I decided to randomly move to the Pacific Northwest. Our future plans as we knew them were put on pause because of COVID-19, so we moved to Seattle with only two weeks of planning. I was newly graduated and eager to experience all life has to offer a 22-year-old. 

Shortly after moving to Seattle, I met our co-founder, Jordan Reynolds, and his wife, and I worked for them for a year. I then headed to where dreams are made of, the one and only, New York City. After being in NYC for a year, I received a message from Jordan saying he was launching a business with Kushal Shah and that there could be opportunities for me. We talked about Trestle, and I realized I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. After a few chats with Jordan and Kushal, I came on board and have not looked back since.

What does your daily routine look like?

I work remotely in NYC, so I start my day by making my bed every morning, making coffee and heading to my office (also known as my bedside table). For me, Monday through Wednesday is pretty busy, so I am usually head down in my computer all day working on SEO and growing our website organically, monitoring ads and our conversions, working with my web developer and optimizing the website, and reviewing and editing any type of written copy for the business. After work, I usually make dinner because I love to cook, and then I go for a walk around my neighborhood to get some fresh air and to get out of my apartment. 

What excites you most about Trestle?

There’s a lot of things that excite me about Trestle. I am naturally drawn to places where I can take on various roles and try my hand at it. I truly won’t know what I like or don’t like until I try it all, and there’s no better place to do that than at a startup. Working at Trestle for Jordan and Kushal is exactly what I need for personal and professional growth, and I couldn’t be happier to be on this team. Jordan and Kushal are truly the best people to work for. They are extremely knowledgeable, and I have learned so much from them in the past 10 months.

What Trestle value do you relate to most?

Dive Deep. I come from a family of hard workers and small business owners where you have no choice but to jump in at any task and try your best to succeed, and what I’m doing now is very similar. We’re a small team, so I think it’s absolutely necessary to be willing to do anything and everything – whether that is answering an email on a Saturday morning because I know that will shorten the task by three days or coming back after dinner for 30 minutes because all of my coworkers are three hours behind me and still need me sometimes. It’s necessary for me to dive deep. The only way I am going to grow personally and within this company is to get my hands dirty, and I’m honestly proud to do it.
