Meet the Team: Melrose Galvez

Tell us a little bit about yourself, background, and role. How did you land here?

I’m a Psychology graduate from the Philippines whose career has taken an unconventional, but incredibly rewarding path.

I started my career working with children with special needs, an experience that shaped my approach to both work and life by teaching me patience, empathy, and the importance of meeting people where they are. From there, I spent three years in Human Resources, serving as an HR Assistant, HR Generalist, and Recruiter, where I developed a strong foundation in communication, organization, and relationship-building.

Looking for a new challenge, I transitioned into Quality Assurance and Data Enrichment for a US-based company. Within a year, I was promoted to Subject Matter Expert, leading and supporting a team of agents while sharpening my skills in process improvement, training, and problem-solving.

Around that time, an unexpected opportunity came my way. A friend introduced me to Kushal Shah, and what began as a few email exchanges eventually turned into a flexible part-time role with Trestle. It fit perfectly alongside my full-time job and gave me the chance to learn the business while building a strong working relationship with the team.

About six months later, I met Jordan Reynolds. I still remember signing my contract on February 8, 2023. It was a milestone that marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

A year later, I took a leap of faith and left my full-time position to join Kushal and Jordan at Trestle as their Operations Specialist. Looking back, every role I’d held—from supporting children with special needs to working in HR, QA, and as a Subject Matter Expert—had prepared me for where I am today.

I’m incredibly grateful to my bosses, Kushal and Jordan, for believing in me and trusting me with the opportunity to grow alongside them. Being part of Trestle has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my career, and I’m excited for everything that’s still ahead.

What does your daily routine look like?

On a typical day, I start by reviewing my bosses’ emails, organizing and categorizing them before preparing a summary of the most important messages for Jordan. I also manage their calendars throughout the day to ensure schedules stay organized and up to date.

In addition to that, I handle several recurring responsibilities, including Usage Reviews, Developer Portal signups, and maintaining and tracking candidate lists. I also take meeting notes, manage HubSpot, assist with bookkeeping, and process suppression requests.

Whenever the sales team needs support, I help with prospecting lists, and I also keep track of our blog posts. Beyond my regular responsibilities, I handle ad hoc tasks as they arise throughout the day.

What excites you most about Trestle?

Trestle has honestly been a breath of fresh air for me. I have great bosses and an incredibly supportive team. It’s not just something people say—it’s something I genuinely experience every day. Working alongside people who truly care about and support one another has made a big difference in my experience. Since I work miles away from the rest of the team, feeling that level of support and connection means a lot to me. It makes me feel included, valued, and like I’m truly part of the team despite the distance.

Beyond the people, what excites me most is seeing the impact of my work. Take supporting the sales team with prospecting, for example. I help build prospecting lists, research the target accounts provided by the sales team, and identify the right people the team can connect and engage with. Knowing that the research and lists I provide help the team find new opportunities and have more meaningful conversations with prospects makes the work feel really meaningful.

Having that sense of purpose and seeing how my efforts help the team succeed is what keeps me motivated every day.

What Trestle value do you relate to most?

The Trestle value I relate to most is One Team. As someone who works remotely and is miles away from the rest of the team, I’ve experienced firsthand what that value looks like in practice. Even with the distance, I’ve never felt like I’m working alone. My managers and teammates are always supportive, approachable, and willing to help, which has made me feel genuinely included and valued.

That sense of teamwork also motivates how I approach my own role. Whether I’m managing calendars, handling call downs, supporting the sales team, or taking on ad hoc requests, I always think about how my work helps the team succeed as a whole. I enjoy being someone others can rely on, and it’s rewarding to know that even behind-the-scenes tasks can have a meaningful impact on our shared goals.

For me, One Team is something I experience every day, and it’s the reason I enjoy being part of Trestle.

What’s one surprising thing that helps you do your best work?

One thing about me is that I like to tick the easiest tasks first before moving on to the bigger, more complex ones. It helps me build momentum while making sure every task is completed accurately and with attention to detail.

That approach reflects a mindset I really believe in: even the smallest contributions can create a big impact. Sometimes my role may feel like just one small piece of the bigger picture, but I’ve learned that getting the details right is often what allows everything else to run smoothly.

Another thing that has helped me a lot is using AI as a tool, especially for writing. Since English isn’t my first language, AI helps me organize my thoughts, communicate more clearly, and express exactly what I want to say. I don’t rely on it to do my thinking for me; it simply helps me communicate my ideas more effectively, which has been incredibly valuable in a role where clear communication matters.

What’s a topic you could give a 5-minute impromptu talk about?

Honestly, it has nothing to do with work, but I’m fully in my matcha era right now. What started as “I just want to make a good matcha latte at home” somehow turned into me researching ceremonial-grade matcha, trying to source it directly from Japan, and learning how to judge quality based on the color, aroma, and texture. I didn’t expect it to become a hobby, but here we are!

It’s become a running joke with my family and friends because I can somehow turn almost any conversation into one about matcha. I’m constantly experimenting with recipes, and one day I’d love to sell my own matcha creations. I’ve officially gone from being a coffee enthusiast to a full-blown matcha girl, and if you let me, I could probably spend way more than five minutes talking about it!
